me and my friend r having a bow making compeititon and im only allowed to use common household times and stuff i find outside and were doing two tests penetration and accuracy any tips to help make a bow that would help me win would be great anything from what to use for an arrowhead type of wood anything like that
Guys, he’s talking about a bow and arrow not a tie… I would recommend cutting down a tree, yes a tree, about 2.5 inches in diameter (6.35 cm). Make sure it is somewhat flexible wood. Too flexible will make the bow floppy, and too stiff will prevent it from firing. Strip off all of the bark. Cut it so that it is an even diameter from top to bottom, and so that it is a foot or two taller than you are. Then, soak it in warm water, or just a pond, until it can be bent. Now you need to bend it, perhaps by putting a large object near the center and using rope so that both ends are curving up. Let it dry this way, hopefully it stays. Then, cut a notch for the cord you decide to use on the INSIDE of the curve. Bend the ends curving inward OUTWARD and string it that way. That will give it insane tension. Be sure to google a good know and use good sting because when this kind of bow (handmade recurve bow) snaps it is not pretty. Basically be careful whole way through and make several of them and youll almost certainly beat him.
